The Becoming You Certification Program is a five-month experience, with both in-person and online components. Its foundations are taught personally by Professor Suzy Welch on the NYU campus, and the rest of the program is composed of a rigorous online curriculum, designed by Professor Welch and the Becoming You faculty. You graduate licensed to deliver the full Becoming You methodology, versed in building your coaching business, and equipped to change the trajectory of people in search of purpose.

Program eligibility requirements.
Each Becoming You coaching cohort is kept intentionally small, no more than 200 at a time.
To apply, at least two of the following must be true:
- You have taken a course about the Becoming You methodology through NYU or at an Intensive or Immersive workshop.
- You have three or more years of professional experience in coaching, therapy, facilitation, education, consulting, or leadership development.
- You hold a recognized certification in coaching or counseling.
- You have had a successful entrance interview with a Becoming You team member. This is especially important for candidates entering coaching for the first time.
All of the following must be true:
- You actively work with clients, students, or communities who would benefit from this work.
- You are driven by a genuine commitment to helping others find purpose and direction.
- You have the energy and commitment to complete the full Becoming You curriculum.

What is the Becoming You Certification Program?
The Becoming You Certification Program is a five-month hybrid training for coaches, therapists, educators, consultants, and leaders who want to bring the Becoming You methodology to the people they serve. The program combines three days of in-person intensive training at NYU with monthly online sessions, mastermind calls, and one-on-one time with Professor Suzy Welch — and concludes with a final certification interview and a licensing agreement to deliver the methodology independently.
Who is the Becoming You Certification Program for?
The program is designed for practitioners already doing purpose-driven work — coaches, therapists, educators, facilitators, and leaders — who are looking for a sharper, research-based instrument to bring to their clients. Enrollment is intentionally limited and requires a brief application to confirm eligibility.
What do I receive when I complete the program?
Graduates receive an official Becoming You Certified Practitioner certificate conferred by the NYU Stern Initiative on Purpose and Flourishing, a LinkedIn credential, a licensing agreement to deliver the Becoming You methodology with their own clients, 50 access codes to Becoming You tools and assessments, and a listing on the Becoming You Labs coach directory. Certified practitioners also join a community of practice with quarterly sessions led by Professor Welch.
What does the five-month program include?
The program begins with pre-work in July, followed by a three-day in-person intensive at NYU in August. From August through November, participants complete self-paced coursework alongside live monthly Q&A calls with Dr. Welch and monthly mastermind sessions. The program concludes with business development strategy sessions and a final certification in November and December.
What are the prerequisites for applying?
Applicants must meet at least two of the following: prior experience with the Becoming You methodology, three or more years of professional experience in coaching, therapy, facilitation, education, consulting, or leadership development, or a recognized coaching or counseling certification. All applicants must currently work with clients, students, or communities who would benefit from the work and be ready to bring the methodology into active practice.
